1. Sit at the table - believe in yourself - negotiate for yourself - own your own success.
2. Make your partner (spouse) a real partner.
3. Don't leave before you leave - your job better be really good to go back, it needs to be challenging, rewarding, you need to feel like you're making a difference.
The Power of Vulnerability | Brene Brown | TED Talks
Researched Connection.
Worthiness: People who have a strong sense of love n belonging believe that they are worthy of love n belonging.
What do these people have in common?
These are kind of Wholehearted people.
What they had in common:
1. Courage - to be imperfect
2. Compassion - to be kind to themselves first and then to others
3. Connection - as a result of authenticity - they were willing to let go of who they thought they should be in order to be who they were
4. Vulnerability - they fully embraced vulnerability
We numb vulnerability.
We live in a vulnerable world. And one of the ways we deal with it, is, we numb vulnerability.
The problem is you cannot selectively numb emotion.
Why and how we numb?
1. We make the uncertain, certain.
2. We perfect.
And we perfect, most dangerously, our children.
"You are imperfect and you are wired for struggle but you are worthy of love n belonging."
3. We pretend
But there is another way and I'll leave you with this:
1. To let ourselves be seen.
2. To love with our whole hearts even though there is no guarantee.
3. To practice gratitude n joy. To feel vulnerable means I'm alive.
4. To believe that we're enough. "I am enough".
The Work / Life Equation : Developer Tea
http://spec.fm/podcasts/developer-tea/38520
The Work / Life Equation:

Three suggestions-
Definition of work.
(What is work and what isn't. Some people incorrectly think of whether or not u're enjoying ur day rather than whether or not you're meeting your goals. the long-term happiness when u're meeting your goals and short-term satisfaction when u've had a so-called good day.)
Work: Energy we're spending.
That might help us understand what work actually means.

Work: Energy we're spending.
That might help us understand what work actually means.
1) Where your Energy is going everyday? where your Time is going?
Start thinking more about your energy.
Think about where you're putting your energy?
2) Set your values.
your priorities.
What you want to cultivate in the course of your life?
Your values determine your direction and give u a constant place to derive your goals.
Goals are just an expression of your values.
A value cannot be accomplished, but rather it can only be followed.
Where your energy goes, in relation to your values?
3) Do your research.
We rely on our feelings far too often.
We rely on our feelings far too often.
Determine, Is that Energy adequately moving me towards my Value set??
Is it adequately accomplishing my Value set??
How much do I want to spend my energy in this area?
Go ahead and look at it through the lens of your values.
"And all this culminates into actually spending your Energy on the things that you Value."

1. Health (Physical, Spiritual)
2. Love & Relationships

Destigmatizing Failure : Developer Tea
http://spec.fm/podcasts/developer-tea/17687
Destigmatizing Failure and using it as a tool for Learning:
Experimentation treats hypothesis and failure as ways of learning.
Failure is an essential step to the learning process.
We talk about failure as a one-dimensional concept. Either we have failed or we have not.
"Not all failures are created equal." -Harvard Business Review Article
Sometimes failure does not have blame to be placed.
There is a different reason for failure just about every time.
Deviance
Inattention
Lack of ability
Process Inadequecy
Task Challenge
Process Complexity
Uncertainty
Hypothesis Testing
Exploratory Testing
Maybe you failed and you ended up fixing something because that failure pointed out whatever it was that ended up being fixed.

Developer Tea - Jonathan Cutrell
This show exists and my purpose here is to help driven developers connect to their ultimate purpose and to excel at the work that they do so that they can positively impact the people that they have influence over.
I am here to help developers who care about their work and I help you by doing quite a few different types of content on this show.
I want to help you become a better developer. To empower you to be a more holistically healthy individual. To empower humanity. To help you achieve a deeper level of fulfilment. Driven developers are people who are also focused on their impact on the world. They are socially conscious individuals.

How Bad Do You Want It? : Terri
The number one motivating factor to change is desire.
The proof of your desires are in the results.
You can elevate your desires to go after your dreams, by the words coming out of your mouth.
Your words are vital to your success.
You have to speak what you believe, not what you feel.
Speak your dreams out loud, go ahead and thank God for them.
Never ever ever feel sorry for yourself.
Don't ever give up on your dreams.
I failed my way to success. -Thomas Edison
Change yourself a little bit more.
Every time you speak your dreams out loud, you're getting closer to them.
Every time you praise God for the fulfilment of your dream, you're getting closer your dream.
Change your thoughts - Change your life : Dr. Wayne Dyer
My three lessons:
1. Living Self-Mastery
Focus on understanding yourself. By taking responsibility for how you choose to respond to anything or anyone, you're aligning yourself with the Tao.
2. Living Without Striving
Being here now is accomplished by adopting an acceptance of life as it is presented by the great Mother or the Tao. It's a surrendering process, if you will - allowing this great all-creating all-nourishing Source to take you where it will.
Do the Tao now by accepting what is offered - that is, know that this situation, in some way that your striving ego rejects, is actually sustenance from the Great Mother.
3. Living With Flexibility
Palm trees bend almost down to the ground at times, and it's that very ability that allows them to remain unbroken.
_____________________________________________________________
Living by Being Here Now
A tower nine stories high starts with one brick.
(Remember the power of small.)
Living in Obscurity
Let other people flourish, waxing on about their strength and popularity. As Lao-tzu says, you must deliberately grant others the right to expand, but take your own lesson from the fish that endure and stay in the deep waters of your Tao-directed soul.

CYT-CYL / Tao Te Ching Quotes
1. Whoever is planted in the Tao, will not be rooted up. Whoever embraces the Tao, will not slip away. (54)
2. Seeking favour is degrading: alarming when it is gotten, alarming when it is lost. (13)
3. Give up trying to persuade anyone else of the correctness of your vision - when they’re ready, their own teachers will surely appear. (21)
4. When negativity feels like it’s directed right at you, retreat to that place of kindness and love within and deflect that energy. Remember, its impossible to pick a fight with someone who refuses to fight! (60)
5. Practice knowing when to stop. (44)
6. You don't need the approval of others or another possession in order to be happy - you must merely understand yourself as a Divine piece of the eternal Tao, always connected to that infinite essence. (33)
7. Which means more to you, you or your renown? Which brings more to you, you or what you own? I say what you gain is more trouble than what you lose. (44)
8. Affirm: The number one priority in my life is my relationship with my Source of being. (44)
9. Everything that you see, touch, or own is a gift from Tao; thus, it is your duty to suspend your ego and seek an attitude of gratitude and generosity for the Tao's creativity. (24)
10. Affirm: I am open to allowing what needs to happen. I trust luck to guide me. (55)
11. Affirm: I have no rigidity within me. I can bend to any wind and remain unbroken. I will use the strength of the wind to make me even stronger and better preserved. (22)

The Be-Happy Attitudes : Robert Schuller
My three lessons:
1. Persist in trusting God.
God will have the last word, and it will be good.
2. Say, 'I need help'.
If you have a need, God has an answer. He specializes in matching up answers to problems, healings to hurts, and solutions to perplexing situations.
Before God can comfort us, before He can help us and heal us, we must have the attitude that we are willing to be helped.
3. God's providence is my inheritance.
God will provide, no matter how bankrupt you are. But you have to trust Him and turn your whole life over to Him.
God's providence is our inheritance. All we have to do is claim it.

Eight Attitudes -
I. "I need help - I can't do it alone!"
1. Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven. -Matthew 5:3
2. It takes guts to leave the ruts.
3. Success starts when I dare to admit I need help.
4. Success comes to the person who is able to ask for help.
5. If you have a need, God has an answer. He specializes in matching up answers to problems, healings to hurts, and solutions to perplexing situations.
6. Only when you and I reach those depths of despair are we then on the way to joy, because God particularly pours out His blessings upon those who know how much they need Him.
7. Think about it. Before God can comfort us, before He can help us and heal us, we must have the attitude that we are willing to be helped. He cannot make us happy unless we want to be happy.

Think, Dream, and Imagine Big : Terri
Whatever a man thinks, so is he.
-Proverbs 23:7
This is so profound, so powerful.
John F. Kennedy
Martin Luther King Junior
Bill Gates
What you think about, you bring about.
As a man thinks in his heart, so does he become.
Begin thinking.
Succeeding on purpose.
Designate time (even 5 minutes) and just think, just sit there quietly and just think.
Thinking precedes achievement.
The greater your thinking, the greater your potential.
Your imagination is a gift that God has given you. He wants you to use your imagination.
Peter Daniels
He said, "I schedule time to think".
Thinking time is never wasted time.
Imagination is a gift that God has given you.
But you have to use it.
You have to schedule that time to just imagine.
Imagine your life beyond where it is today.
This will actually cause you to succeed on purpose.

Why You Need A Growth Plan : Terri
(You're valuable to God.)
What are you doing to prepare for your dreams?
Let me rephrase,
What are you doing everyday to prepare for your dreams?
Successful people have successful habits.
Larry Bird - basketball player
Successful people have:
1) Goals
2) A plan for continual growth
He created habits in his life that caused him to go to the next level.
Your daily habits are either taking you closer or further from the dreams God has put in your heart.
1) Successful people use their drive time to grow.
Listen to something.
2) Successful people read good books.
in the area that's gonna help you.
Small Changes = Big Results : Terri
The number one motivating factor to change is desire.
You have to elevate your desire.
You start changing what you give attention to.
If you want something bad enough then you will change your habits.
Successful people have developed successful habits.
1) To help change your habits, set a 21 day goal.
Look at your written dreams and speak them out of your mouth.
2) To help change your habits, start small.
3) To help change your habits, do it every day.
Consistency is the key to change.
4) To help change your habits, do it at the same time every day.
You become what you behold.
You won't be at the same place next year at this time.

Three habits of great learners:

2. Great learners dissect systems.
Your obstacles in your work-life are always learning opportunities.
Any obstacles that you face, those are learning opportunities.
Pareto principle:
80% of the benefit comes from 20% of the effort.
Dig a little bit deeper.
Learn about the system, that your problem is working within.
Understand the system and why the problem occurred?
Follow it back to its root.

Nested and Inner class : Java
The Java programming language allows you to define a class within another class. Such a class is called a nested class.
Nested classes are divided into two categories: static and non-static. Nested classes that are declared static are called static nested classes. Non-static nested classes are called inner classes.
A nested class is a member of its enclosing class.
Non-static nested classes (inner classes) have access to other members of the enclosing class, even if they are declared private.
Static nested classes do not have access to other members of the enclosing class.
As a member of the OuterClass, a nested class can be declared private, public, protected, or package private. (Recall that outer classes can only be declared public or package private.)
