Make Vision Boards Work For You : Terri

For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.
-Proverbs 23:7

What you think about, you bring about.

You will never leave where you are until you see where you would rather be.

You can see something before you can have something.

All that your eyes can see can be yours. -Bible

Can you see it?

Write the vision and make it plain.

Take some time to just think.

Start listening for what God wants you to dream, and write those things down.

Don't start cutting and pasting. Write.
Think and write.

Just start writing.
There is power in the pen.

5 Tips To Develop Good Habits : Terri

The thing that separates successful people from unsuccessful people are habits.
Our sub-conscious activities represent 40% of our daily lives.

Good habits are hard to form, but easy to live with. Bad habits are easy to form, but hard to live with.
"If you want to see change in your life, change something you do daily."
90% of the way we do things is based on just doing it automatically, almost like on auto-pilot.
Good habits are formed over-time, bad habits are formed over-time also.

"We are what we repeatedly do.
Excellence then is not an act, its a habit."

Successful people have successful habits.
And one of the habits that they have is investing in themselves.

1) You have make a decision to start.
2) Choose one habit that will help you the most.
3) Track your progress with a calendar.
4) Do it for 21 days.
5) Set the timer for 20 minutes.

"The habits you form from this day forward, will ultimately determine how your future unfolds." -Jack Canfield

Set the timer and get started.

What to Do When You Don't Know What to Do : Terri

Transition is God's way of promotion.

God is saying, "Don't freak out, don't sweat, don't worry, don't be confused, maybe you didn't plan this. You're gonna be OK."

Transition is a vulnerable place. You're not completely hooked into your future but you're locked out of your past.

The moment you make up your mind you're going somewhere, you become a threat to the enemy.

I am going where God tells me to go. I might be afraid, I might be concerned, but God's got my hand, and Jesus is carrying me.

"Some steps to practice in life":
1) Worship wins the battle. (if you're in a transition, you're in a battle.)
2) Set aside time to worship. (schedule it on the calendar. if its 10 mins, say 10 mins a day i will worship the lord.)
3) Play worship music. (it creates an atmosphere in your heart and in your home to worship the lord.)
4) Don't complain. Worship God for who He is. (Change your attention. Magnify how big your God is, stop talking about how big your problem is.)

Vision Board Success Keys- Commitment And Your Words : Terri

Commitment: Are you committed to your dreams?

Committed to pray over your dreams, to keep them before your eyes, and to speak to them.

Life and death are in the power of the tongue. -Proverbs 18:21

Your words are a tool to help you get closer to your dreams.

If you'll change what you're saying, you'll change what you're seeing.
Be committed to speaking those positive declarations everyday.

Consistent actions create consistent results.

You are serving the King of kings and the Lord of lords, and God is saying whatever dream you can possibly come up with in your mind, God can go beyond that.
You dream as big as you can.
God will take from there.
Your dreams do not intimidate God.

Get your dreams in writing. Put them on a vision-board. Speak to them everyday.
Make it a part of your daily routine.

What To Do When Nothing Is Changing : Terri

Take 100% responsibility for your life.
For where you are, for what you've achieved, for what's taken place. 100% responsibility.
Your decisions affect your destiny.
Make destiny decisions that you're gonna be pleased with.

Jesus had to ask him, "Do you want to get well"?

Jesus could be asking you the same thing He asked this man, "Are you really sure you want, what you say you want"?

I'm gonna pick myself up, and I'm gonna start taking steps towards my destiny.

Its not too late for you to get up, brush yourself off, pull your shoulders back and start taking steps towards your destiny.

"When you stand before God on judgement day, and you're gonna give an account for your life, you are not gonna be held accountable for what you did on earth, you're gonna be held accountable for what you were called to do on earth."

Do something to start taking steps.

God's gonna hold you accountable for that dream He's put in your heart.

*5:48 to 6:27
"Get up! Pick up your bed, and walk." -John 5:8

What could Jesus be saying to you today?

Start today making destiny decisions as if Jesus said to you today, "Get up, pick up your bed, and start walking towards your destiny".

The World's Most Powerful And Neglected Secret To Success : Terri

The most powerful secret to success: Asking

"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. How much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!" -Matthew 7:7-11

You have to ask with boldness, confidence and courage.
Develop that courage and boldness to not only ask the Lord for some of the desires of your heart, the things you're believing God for, but start asking other people for certain things, people who are able to give you what you're needing or what you're desiring.
Its fully ok not only to ask from the Lord but also to ask from people.
"God already knows your requests but He still says to ask Him for them."

I have thanked God for this, and I want to thank you for teaching this.
You have not because you ask not.
Let your requests be known to God.

"Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours." -Mark 11:24

So, you have to have the courage to ask, but you also have to have that faith that it can be yours.

The fulfilment of your dream could only be a question away.
So step out of your comfort zone, pull your shoulders back, hold your head up, and go ask for what you're believing God for.

7 Ways to Survive and Thrive at a Startup

The Best Way to Boost Your Confidence : Terri

Your confidence matters.

It affects everything.
It even affects your relationship with God.
It affects what you believe He can give you.

You confidence affects how far you go in your career.
It affects everything.

It's considered more important than skill, knowledge and even experience.

It's absolutely necessary to pursue your dreams.

The opposite of confidence, insecurity is a killer of dreams.

Be confident in who God made you to be.
If you're loud great, if you're quiet great.
Be confident in those traits that God has given you.

I want you to realize, you have what it takes to succeed, but you got to develop your confidence in you who you are.

How do you boost your confidence?

1) Cut out the negative self-talk.

Replace it with positive declarations.
You believe your own self more than anybody.

What you repeatedly hear, you eventually believe.

Successful people take a proactive approach to their dreams.
They speak about things before they actually get them.
We call those things that be not, as if they already are.

2) Speak positive declarations.

I am highly focused on my dreams and goals.
I am confident.

I am beautiful inside and out.
I am highly favourite of God.

I am grateful to God.

If you want to know where your life is headed, listen to what's coming out of your mouth.
Make a list of 10 things you can start speaking out of your mouth today.

You Will Attract What You Expect : Terri

It is never too late to do what God has put in your heart to do.
Five years are gonna come and go, no matter what.
Don't live with regrets.
Don't always just wonder what could have happened if I had developed that courage to go after my dreams.

The #1 question that will stop you from achieving your dreams is asking "How?".

You are going to get exactly what you expect out of life; positively or negatively.

I'm expecting the favour of Lord in my life.
I'm expecting to accomplish my goal.
I'm expecting to spend time with my mom.
I'm expecting to develop that app.
I'm expecting to get that job.

Your expectations affect what you brain does, what your body does.

Do you really expect me to help you with this?
Yes Lord. I'm expecting it.

How do you get more faith?
Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. -Romans 10:17

You have to elevate your expectations to achieve your dreams.

What are you expecting God to do in your life?

You need to elevate your faith, raise your faith.

How I Handle Delays and Discouragement : Terri

Winston Churchill, Thomas Edison, Colonel Sanders, R. H. Macy, Steven Spielberg, Marilyn Monroe, Soichiro Honda, Walt Disney.
Everybody faces impossibilities. We all face delays or what appears to be a delay in the pursuit of our dreams and getting our prayers answered.

What do you do when there is delay after delay and you know in your heart, God told you to do this?
You have to stay optimistic, and stay full of hope, and full of faith, while you are in the journey.

But without faith it is impossible to please Him (God). -Hebrews 11:6

Hang on to your dream more than you ever have before because you have no idea what God is protecting you from, what He's preserving for you by the fact that it seems delayed. God's timing is always right.

1. Make yourself listen to messages full of hope. (hearing the Word)
Consistently fill your mind with messages of hope and faith. It will affect the way you feel, affect the way you speak and it will affect the outcome.

2. Speak to your dream. (speaking the Word)
"Thank you God I have the job. Thank u God I am working."
We/I just acted as if it was done.

3. Sow significant seed.
Work.
(fyi proverb: as you sow, so shall you reap.)

Whatever you're going through right now, trust me on this, God is working behind the scenes, He's arranging things to work out in your favour at the perfect time.

It may not be easy, but it will be worth it. So trust God, fill yourself up with the Word of God, speak to your vision, express gratitude, just thank the Lord as if its already done and sow seed for your future.

The Hour Of Power : Terri

The Hour of Power. The golden hour.
You invest in yourself one hour a day.
20mins pray/meditate, 20 mins read (motivational/faith-building books), 20 mins exercise.

Its time for you to invest in yourself before you invest in anything or anyone else.

Even when you're on an airplane, they always say, put your oxygen mask on first, before you attend anyone around you.

You have to take care of yourself first before you can take care of others.

Successful people have successful habits.

TV, phone, social media... hours n years r spent...

6: 55 One of the top 5 habits of the most successful people in the world is, they get up early.
Benjamin Franklin
Howard Shultz (Starbucks)
Jeff Immelt (GE)
Ursula Burns (Xerox)
Dan Akerson (General Motors)
Tim Cook (Apple)
Bob Iger (Disney)

They are investing in themselves before they invest in anyone else.

And you are worth the investment.

"Let's replace the word alarm-clock with the term opportunity-clock."

Its another opportunity to invest in myself.
Its another opportunity to take steps closer to my dreams.

Devote time to investing in yourself.

How to Overcome Small Thinking : Terri

You are limiting or moving God by the thoughts you have about yourself and your future.

1. See it.

See yourself succeeding.

You are limiting or moving God by the thoughts you have about yourself and your future.

You are moving towards the dominant images you keep before your eyes.

2. Say it.

Speak it out of your mouth.

You are moving towards what's coming out of your mouth.

Every time you speak towards your dreams you're giving the angels something to work with. They respond to the words of your mouth.

No one can do this for you. You have to speak it out of your mouth.

3. Seize it.

Receive what God has for you.

Its gonna be completely upto your ability to receive what God has for you.

They don't expect it, therefore they don't receive it.

You Have A Calling : Terri

This is your wake-up call.
To get up, get dressed, get prepared to do everything God's put in your heart to do.

"Your calling is calling."
You have a calling on your life.
But you have to prepare for it.
God is saying, "I put you on this earth for a purpose".
If you were told you had six months left to live, what would you do?
God's speaking to me. I know I've gotta get serious about some things.

What ultimately matters most will not be what others say about your life but what God says about you.
God has a calling on your life. But you have to discover that calling.

1. Pick up the call.
God has a plan for your life.
"Before I made you in your mother's womb, I knew you.
Before you were born, I chose you for a special work." -Jeremiah 1:5
Pick up the phone and say, Lord I'm going to do what you put me on this earth to do.

2. Spend some time alone with God.
Get away from the noise of the world. For about 5-10 minutes. Sit there with the Lord, and say Lord speak to me, I want to hear what you want me to get serious about. I want to know what you put me on this earth to do.
You're gonna hear God's voice but you have to practice hearing the voice of God.
Practice hearing God's voice.
Get a journal, get a pen and just listen for the voice of God. Why, because your calling is calling. You have the choice to pick it up or to push decline.

I believe God's speaking to you today and He's saying, 'this is your wake-up call'. Let's get moving. I want to lead you step by step into my perfect plan for your life.

Through advanced decision making, say, "I can do this."

The #1 Killer Of Opportunities : Terri

"When I know you're ready, get ready."
Its time to get ready, to prepare.

God wants to bring opportunities your way but you have to prepare.
What is the #1 killer to opportunities?
You not being prepared.

You have to be ready to seize those opportunities that God brings your way.

You can have excuses or can have results, but you're not gonna have both.

3:13 to 4:14
He'll use you too if you stop making excuses.

Whatever God has put in your heart to do, overcome the excuses and start preparing, start getting ready now.
Why? Because your calling is calling.
God is telling you now, lets get with it.

You cannot change your destination overnight, but you can change your direction. -Jim Rohn

How do you do that? By getting ready, by preparing right now.

4:53
'Do it now.'

The greatest danger you face is the idea that you can get serious about your future later on.

God notices when you start preparing.

He's gonna bring opportunities across your path that you're gonna say, 'Oh my goodness, my life has changed so much, because I was ready, because I was prepared'.

The longer you wait to do something you know you should do now, the greater the odds you will never actually do it.
'Do it now.'

A year from now you'll wish you started today.

Its never too late to do what God has put in your heart to do.

1:17 God can accelerate things in your life.

-Jim Rohn

What would happen if I got on a quest for continual growth?

The best investment you could ever make is in yourself. Growing yourself with the books you read, the videos you listen to, the conferences you attend.

"Growth must be intentional, strategic, and planned."
7:02 You have to plan your growth.

I don't think the same, I don't live the same, I don't dream the same. Everything about my life changed when I began growing me.

This is what you need to do, "Invest in yourself".
If you want more, you must become more.

The Language of Success : Terri

* 0:18 to 1:06
"Everybody wants to work with me. I am a really good Developer. I have all kinds of great development offers."
Development offers are out there for me.

"A rudder controls the entire direction of a ship the way your tongue controls the direction of your life."
-James 3:4

Programming your mind for success | Carrie Green | TED Talks

What is going on up in your head has such a huge impact on the actions that you take, on the decisions you make and the things that you experience.
People are missing out on incredible opportunities all of the time because of what's going on in their head, because they are making bad decisions based on a really bad frame of mind.

"Your destiny is determined by the choices you make. Choose now. Choose well."

I realized that I had the power to take control over my thoughts rather than letting them control me. I knew that I could stop myself from thinking these things and I did. I replaced the negative thoughts with positive thoughts that were empowering me, thoughts that were actually helping me to move towards my goal. I also started to listen to guided visualizations to program my sub-conscious mind for success.

I realized that if I could get my mind to be certain that I could make something happen that somehow I would figure out a way. And I always have.

Success is no accident. Living an incredible life is no accident. You have to do it on purpose. And it starts by knowing exactly what it is that you want to achieve, knowing why you want to achieve it, knowing the kind of person you need to become, in order to make it happen, and then programming your mind to make it happen, because you just have one life in which to achieve everything you're gonna achieve so you have to act accordingly.

Android Development: dp/dip, ppi/dpi

1 dp/dip (density independent pixel or device independent pixel) = 1/160 inch
or 1 inch = 160 dp

(This is important for app developers and designers.)
____________________________________

dpi (dots per inch) = ppi (pixels per inch) [physical pixel on device] = pixel density
more dpi = more clarity
Note 5 has 518 dpi or ppi. In other words, Note 5 has 518 physical pixels per inch.

(This is important for phone buyers.)

formula:

dp = (no. of pixels/pixel density) * 160

smallest width in inches = smallest width in pixels / pixel density
eg. 1440/518 = 2.8 inches ~

How to Build Willpower and Self-Discipline by Robin Sharma

How to Build Willpower and Self-Discipline

24:00

The 5 big "ideas" on Success:

1. Genius is less about genetics, more about practice.
a. Time
b. Deliberate practice (practice done with a view to making everyday better.)
c. Talent hubs
Surrounding yourself with people whose lives you want to be living.

2. Your growth, your progress is not built up around your comfort, your growth is built around your discomfort.

3. It's your natural responsibility to be great.

4. The goal is the process.
The real value of the goal is what the process towards the goal makes of you.

5. The secret of all great success lies not in transformation but in evolution.
Small daily improvements over time lead to stunning success.
Slow and steady consistency wins the race.

40:00

The latest science of will-power:

1. You can build will-power, because it's like a muscle.

Will-power lives in the part of the brain called the pre-frontal cortex.
As you flex the pre-frontal cortex, the grey cells and the neuro connections within the pre-frontal cortex start to grow. And neuro scientists call this neuro plasticity.

2. The more choices you make, the less will-power you will have.

3. Self-Awareness is the DNA of transformation.

Three miracle drugs of will-power based on the science:

1. Meditation

2. Exercise

3. Sleep

57:17
Tactics:

1. Ritualized Refueling.

a. Periodicity
90 mins - walk, meditate, have lunch
b. Every week 1 day no technology, no work, total rest, total recovery.
c. Every 6 weeks take a weekend off or take a week off if you are an entrepreneur.

You will find then that you have much higher amounts of self-discipline by building rest into your days, weeks, and months.

2. Excersice.

3. The vocabulary of 'Can'.

I am a disciplined person.
I have a will of iron, and a mind of steel.

Repeat that 100 times a day so that you start re-programming your self-identity, your self-conscious.

4. Deliberate Minimalism.

"Become the master of the diplomatic 'no'."
Steve jobs, "We are just as proud of the things we said no to as the things we said yes to".
"Build a life of simplicity to avoid ego-depletion. Strip out complexity, build simplicity. Start practicing deliberate minimalism."
"The person who chases two rabbits catches neither."

5. Elevate your associations.
Mirror nuerons.
Emotional contagion.

6. Mess-free Environments
Mess creates stress.
"Clean out your mess & go minimalist."

3 Ways God Can See Your Faith : Terri

Your faith is visible.

1) God sees your faith through your vision.

vision: the capacity to see farther than your eyes can look.
Your Vision Board is really a snapshot of your faith.
Show the Lord what you can believe for.

2) God sees your faith through your expression.

You don't know how He's gonna do it, but you trust the Lord with all your heart.
Are we gonna let the Lord see our faith or we just gonna pout and show the devil that he got the victory?
Lord, I don't know how You're gonna do it, but I trust you.

3) God sees your faith through your giving.

Lord, I want you to know-
i. how dependent we are on You.
ii. how much we believe in our vision.
iii. how much You can trust us with money.
iv. how much we will always honour those who have taught us.

Have faith like a child.
Let the Lord see your faith.
Let Him see that you really believe that this dream is gonna come to pass.
Your faith can be seen.

The 5 Big Distractions You Must Overcome : Terri

1. Time
"Even the snail made it to the ark."
2. Your Age
Don't ever let the devil tell you you're too old or that you're too young to have the dreams that God has put in your heart.
3. Words
Never allow someone's opinion of you stop you from doing what God told you to do.
4. Your Past
God never consults your past to determine your future. So, stay focused.
5. Money
God is not checking your bank-account. He's checking your faith.

Lord said to her, "you've asked me for a lot. Do you want it or not".
Big dreams require big commitment.

Signs You’re Successful—Even If It Doesn’t Feel Like It

Amazing read:

It’s a shame we fall prey to materialistic thinking because we certainly know better. A study by Strayer University found that 90% of Americans believe happiness is a bigger indicator of success than power, possessions, or prestige. Digging a little deeper, 67% defined success as “good relationships with friends and family,” and 60% said it is loving what you do for a living. Only 20% stated that monetary wealth determines success.

But saying and doing are two very different things.

As of now, my definition of success in life is 'Balance'. A sense of balance, centredness and inner peace.
Balance between Spiritual and Physical.
Balance between Personal (relationships - family members & friends, marriage, household, hobbies) and Professional (creative work, learning, finances, contribution) life.

Steve Jobs' 2005 Stanford Commencement Address

Today I want to tell you three stories from my life.

1. The first story is about connecting the dots.
All of my working class parents savings were being spent on my college tuition. After six months, I couldn't see the value in it. I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life, and no idea how college was going to help me figure it out. And here I was spending all of the money my parents had saved their entire life. So I decided to drop out, and trust that it would all work out ok. It was pretty scary at the time, but looking back it was one of the best decisions I ever made.
If I had never dropped out, I would have never dropped in on that calligraphy class, and personal computers might not have the wonderful typography that they do. Of course it was impossible to connect the dots looking forward when I was in college. But it was very very clear looking backwards ten years later.
You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards.
Believing that the dots will connect down the road, will give you the confidence to follow your heart, even when it leads you off the well worn path, and that will make all the difference.

2. My second story is about love and loss.
I was lucky I found what I loved to do early in life. Woz and I started Apple in my parents' garage when I was 20. We worked hard, and in 10 years Apple had grown from just the two of us in a garage, into a $ 2 billion dollar company with over 4000 employees.
And then I got fired.
At 30, I was out. And very publicly out. What had been the focus of my entire adult life was gone, and it was devastating.
But something slowly began to dawn on me. I still loved what I did. The turn of events at Apple had not changed that one bit.
And so I decided to start over. I didn't see it then, but it turned out that getting fired from Apple was the best thing that could ever happen to me. The heaviness of being successful was replaced by the lightness of being a beginner again, less sure about everything. It freed me to enter one of the most creative periods of my life. During the next five years, I started a company named NeXT, another company named Pixar, and fell in love with an amazing woman who would become my wife.
Sometimes life's gonna hit you in the head with a brick. Don't lose faith.
I'm convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved what I did. You've got to find what you love.
If you haven't found it yet, keep looking, and don't settle.
Like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on.
So keep looking. Don't settle.

3. My third story is about death.
When I was 17, I read a quote that went something like: "If you live each day as if it was your last, some day you'll most certainly be right".
Almost everything, all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure, these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important.
About a year ago, I was diagnosed with cancer.
I had the surgery, and thankfully I am fine now.
This was the closest I've been to facing death.
No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven, don't want to die to get there. And yet, death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be.
Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life.
And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become.

Your Body Language Shapes Who You Are | Amy Cuddy | TED Talks

I became especially interested in non-verbal expressions of power and dominance.

Can u fake it till you make it? Do our non-verbals govern how we think n feel about ourselves? Do our bodies change our minds? Can power posing for a few minutes really change your life in meaningful ways?
Its about you talking to yourself. "Our bodies change our minds, our minds change our behaviour and our behaviour changes our outcomes." Don't fake it 'til you make it. Fake it 'til u become it.
Two minutes. Get your testosterone up. Get ur cortisol down. Try a power pose.

Thank you Ms. Amy Cuddy!
