Kati Morton - Creating & Maintaining Healthy Boundaries

Creating & Maintaining Healthy Boundaries

1. Observe.
What you are feeling is your own body’s natural set of boundaries.

2. Be clear & direct. Be assertive.
We have to let people know.

3. Give urself permission to set & maintain healthy boundaries.
Know that it’s all in the best interest of the relationship.

4. Get outside support. Keep being assertive.
It’s important for us to have other people in our lives who are there for support.

5. Practice Self-care.
Make sure you are setting aside time for yourself so that you have the energy to create and maintain these new healthy boundaries.

p.s.: Know that by setting Boundaries and being assertive about it, you're not only protecting yourself but you're also protecting the other person from a future potential fight or maybe silent treatment whatever unhealthy coping skill comes out of a boundary being crossed, you're protecting each person from that. And only with a set of Healthy Boundaries can a relationship flourish and grow.
